19 October One Day Photography Tour

Friday 19th October - Shorebirds Galore & raptors aplenty

Today was centred around the highest tide of the year at Snettisham, the birds did their part - a fantastic spread of close to 100,000 birds with around 60-80,000 Knot filling the skies. Plus around 30,000 Knot swirling on to the pits & providing a truly amazing spectacle. Sadly the light was grey & we managed lots of "full bird-filled" images the light would have made all the difference. Still we had a wonderful 3 hours enjoying the awesome sights & sounds of this wildlife spectacle. Images & some footage will be posted here soon.

Snettisham - Knot c60,000, 1000 Bar-tailed Godwit, 1500 Oystercatcher, 200 Shelduck, 1000 Golden Plover & numerous other shorebirds.

We also had at least 4+ Marsh harrier, Kestrel, Sparrowhawk with a kill which was then robbed by a  Peregrine. All of the raptors choosing to perch up at some stage & provide good scope views!! Overhead a few Skylark, Meadow & Rock Pipit were noted

In the afternoon we visited a reedbed area where we had great views of Bearded Tit & in the poor light managed to get some record shots.
